krissy-brothers

Yesterday I was IMing with a co-worker who mentioned that they saw my baby picture on Facebook, which then launched us into the conversation about how I have 4 actual professional pictures of myself from my baby/childhood in India. I’m pretty sure most of my family members have limited numbers of photographs of themselves as children too.

As we were talking, I had this crazy awareness go off in my head about how much I have to be thankful for.

I was explaining that the reason there are not many baby pictures of me or my brothers was because our family was poor and we didn’t have a camera of our own. So when we wanted to have a picture taken, we would go to the studio or have a photographer come to our house(all black and white pics). All of which costs money that we really didn’t have an excess of. The pictures we have from India are cherished by all of us! I love looking at the people in the pictures and wondering what they played with or who they were friends with. My mom looks so young and I can see our similar facial features. My dad always has a pen in his left pocket and I have evidence that it started way back when my oldest brother(now 50)was a wee little boy.

My friend was saying that I have so much to be thankful for and I had to agree because now we have an annoying number of cameras and every weekend or every family gathering involves cameras to catch each moment. Strange and wonderful that we have so few moments captured at the beginning, but now there are more than we know what to do with. I guess the moments are all cherished…now we just have an abundance of pictures to show the good times.
